Our Story
We've spent the last 20 years remodeling, building and developing homes in the CA Bay Area. In that time, we have often had friends and family come to us for advice and direction in the midst of their own home renovations and builds. They were trying to tackle their own home improvement, where to buy materials and often wanted to know if we had good referrals for reliable companies to complete each part of the project. We have realized through helping friends and family over the years that there are a large number of people who want the savings of running their own project but could use the expertise of a General Contractor to walk them through each step on the way to their dream home. When we identified the need for a more cost-effective way to streamline home improvement projects, the idea to start ebuildz was born.
ebuildz is an online platform that does exactly what we have done over the years for our friends and family. We empower you, the homeowner, to step into the shoes of a General Contractor. We provide a detailed roadmap to walk you through any project that includes all the information and resources you need to save time and money and cut out the middleman. Our platform is able to provide you with help from start to finish, from dream to reality. We start with design ideas and a customized project roadmap. We are there for as much or as little help as you need along the way. From support with inspections, to the ability to provide multiple bids for each vendor you need for any project, we're here to support you and make sure you are empowered to create the space you have always dreamed of. If you should hit any bumps along the road, our experts are here to walk you through whatever issue you are facing. At ebuildz, our mission is to make sure that every homeowner, no matter how big or small the project or budget, has access to all the resources necessary to create a space they love.
Meet Our Founders
Paul Latala
Co-Founder & CEO
Paul, born in Chicago to Polish immigrants, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when he was five years old. In high school, he would spend his summers cleaning job sites for his father’s construction company and after pursuing a degree at San Francisco State University in International Business, he worked as a Project Manager for a large residential construction firm for six years. In 2007 he obtained his contractor’s license and started his own construction company, Latala Homes, Inc. As a General Contractor, he has worked on multi-home developments, large-scale remodels and high-end custom home builds. Paul found a renewed passion for the industry he grew up loving by creating an online platform that empowers all homeowners to create the space they have always dreamed of having, without the stress and cost of traditional construction options.
When Paul is not working he is very active in his community and supports various charitable organizations including the local hospital and pediatric cancer research foundation. He has been happily married to his wife for over a decade and they have three beautiful daughters. When Paul is not supporting his children in their pursuits, he enjoys mountain biking, skiing and golfing.
Dan McGuire
Co-Founder & CTO
Dan born in Boston to an Irish immigrant father and Irish American mother, he learned construction at a young age working with his uncles up on roofs at the age 14. After graduating from Northeastern University, with a degree in Computer Information Science., Dan started a construction company that later rolled into Home Depot's At-Home Services where he managed a territory of 3 to 6 stores for their renovation services. After 10 years with Home Depot, Dan moved to San Fransisco, started a software company and met Paul, who became an investor in his company. Fast forward to 2020 and Dan and Paul reconnected and Paul explained his idea for a new company that could cut out the middleman, himself the GC, and save customers 25% or more when they did a remodel or new construction. After much research, Dan loved the idea and thought it could fundamentally transform and disrupt the traditional construction industry and ebuildz Inc. was born.
When Dan is not working he and his wife of 12 years volunteer with the Humane Society where they foster and have placed 33 dogs with new forever homes so far. Dan also enjoys golfing, skiing and attending Formula One races.
